The goal of Occupational Therapy is to help you gain independence and personal satisfaction in all aspects of your life.
Occupational Therapists work to provide you with the skills for the job of living - the skills necessary to function in your community or in your home. These skills will provide you with the safety and independence needed to achieve the quality of life you desire. They include activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and home maintenance.
Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people of any age to improve their functional independence while preventing or minimizing disability.
In order to receive Occupational Therapy at one of our outpatient locations, in your home or location at an area assisted living facility, you will need a referral from your physician. Your physician or primary care provider can help determine which therapy approach would best meet your needs. We provide home based Occupational Therapy services through a certified home care agency, the Health Department of Northwest Michigan. Remember, you have a choice when it comes to deciding which therapy provider will care for you.
YOU CAN DECIDE WHICH THERAPY PROVIDER WILL CARE FOR YOU. ASK YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT OUR SERVICES.
After that, an Occupational Therapist will evaluate your individual needs and develop a treatment plan that addresses your specific challenges. You and your Occupational Therapist will work toward the goals that are important to you.
If you are home bound, your services could be completely covered by Medicare. If you are not home bound, your Occupational Therapy services may be covered by Medicare in conjunction with your supplemental insurance either in your home or at one of our outpatient locations.
Occupational Therapy outpatient services may also be covered by Medicaid, Private Insurances, Children's Special Needs Programs or by self-pay.
Please contact our staff for more information. We will discuss your needs, make recommendations for your care and assist you with your total recovery so you can get back to, "Where you want to be"
